Objectives
To design an IoT-based trash bin monitoring system using ESP32 that detects trash level and provides real-time alerts through LED indicators and Telegram notifications. To develop a semi-automatic self-cleaning and self-drying mechanism that operates after waste removal, with staff assistance to close the trash bin lid before the cleaning and drying processes begin, to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the trash bin.
Scope of project
The system monitors the trash bin level using sensors and sends a notification via Telegram when the bin is full to alert staff for waste removal. The system is implemented on a trash bin prototype with dimensions of 34 cm × 28 cm. After the trash is removed and the staff closes the bin lid, the system performs semi-automatic self-cleaning and self-drying processes to ensure the bin is clean and ready for reuse. Designed for use at event halls
Project description
The Smart Trash Bin Maintenance with IoT is designed to improve trash bin maintenance using ESP32 technology. The system monitors trash levels using an ultrasonic sensor and sends notifications through Telegram when the bin is full. After staff remove the waste and close the lid, the cleaning process can be started through Telegram. A water pump cleans the inside of the bin, followed by a fan to assist drying. This semi-automatic system aims to reduce manual monitoring and improve cleanliness and hygiene.
