Objectives

To design and develop a 2-socket smart power extension with multi-layer protection (MOV, fuse, and ESP32-controlled relays) against electrical surges and overloads. 2. To automatically detect overvoltage (>265V) and overcurrent (>10.0A) conditions and instantly disconnect power to safeguard connected appliances. 3. To provide real-time electrical parameter tracking (Voltage, Current, Power) and individual socket control locally via an OLED display and remotely via the Blynk mobile application.

Scope of project

Microcontroller core: driven by an ESP32 unit to execute sensor signal processing, safety protection algorithms, and wireless communication. 2. Electrical sensing: incorporates a ZMPT101B module to monitor AC line voltage and an ACS712 sensor to track load current in real time. 3. Independent load switching: controls two separate 240V AC socket outlets via dedicated 5V single-channel relay modules. 4. Automated safety protection: features automatic software cutoff routines that trip the relays during overvoltage (>265V) or overcurrent (>10.0A) events. 5. Hardware & IoT integration: combines an inline fuse and Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) for hardware defense, an SSD1306 OLED screen for local display, and Blynk IoT synchronization for remote mobile tracking.

Project description

This project presents an IoT-based smart power extension system designed to enhance residential electrical safety beyond conventional single-layer market extensions. Utilizing an ESP32 microcontroller as the central processing unit, the system integrates a ZMPT101B voltage sensor and an ACS712 current sensor to sample live electrical parameters. When abnormal conditions are detected, specifically overvoltage exceeding 265V or overcurrent exceeding 10.0A, the system instantly trips the dual 5V relays to isolate the load and safeguard connected appliances. Furthermore, users can view real-time data locally via an OLED screen or monitor and control each individual socket remotely using the Blynk mobile application.
