Objectives

To provide different levels of block compaction (soft, medium, and hard) that suit different oyster mushroom substrate conditions To measure and control the compaction load of oyster mushroom blocks using a load sensor, ESP32 and Blynk. To design and develop a pneumatic compaction machine that can compress the mushroom blocks

Scope of project

The project focuses on pneumatic compression of oyster mushroom substrate blocks, providing three selectable compaction levels (Soft, Medium, Hard). The machine is designed for polypropylene bags (16 × 3 inch) containing 700g-800g substrate mixture, suitable for lab scale mushroom cultivation. The machine integrates an ESP32 microcontroller with solenoid valve control through Blynk app. The project focuses on pneumatic compaction of pre-filled oyster mushroom substrate blocks using blocks supplied by Azizie Agrofarm.

Project description

This project presents a semi-automated pneumatic compaction machine developed to improve the consistency and efficiency of oyster mushroom substrate block compression. Unlike conventional manual methods, the machine enables users to select three compaction levels (soft, medium, and hard) according to the required compression condition. The system employs a pneumatic cylinder to compress the substrate block, while a load sensor and ESP32 microcontroller are used to measure and monitor the applied compression load. Through integration with the Blynk mobile application, users can monitor and control the process in real time. By combining pneumatic technology with IoT-based monitoring, the proposed system simplifies operation and promotes a more controlled compaction process.
