Objectives
To integrate max9814 sensors with ESP32 and blynk apps to detects excessive sound levels in the library. To study and implement system that can notify and alert the librarian when noise exceeds the set threshold.
Scope of project
-The system highly depends on stable WiFi connection for Blynk features (remote monitoring and notification). -Voice warning is only delivered locally through the 2 Watt speaker (no integration with library PA system). -The noise threshold value needs to be calibrated manually according to the actual library environment. -The system is powered by a battery 18650, so operating time is limited and requires regular charging. -This project is developed as a prototype and not yet ready
Project description
This project is an IoT-based system that monitors noise levels in a library using an ESP32 microcontroller and a MAX9814 microphone module. The microphone signal is sampled and converted into a calibrated sound level in decibels (dB), which is displayed in real time on the Blynk app. When the noise level reaches 50 dB or higher at least 20 times within a 5-second period, the system confirms excessive noise. It then plays a voice warning through a DFPlayer Mini module, sends a Telegram alert showing the peak dB level, and blinks a warning LED on the Blynk dashboard. After each alert, an 5-second cooldown prevents repeated triggering. A manual button in Blynk also lets staff pause the alarm when needed.
